Ribosomal Protein S19, also known as RPS19, is a part of the S19E family of ribosomal proteins. RPS19 is located in the cytoplasm and required for pre-rRNA processing and maturation of 40S ribosomal subunits. Mutations in RPS19 trigger Diamond-Blackfan anemia, a constitutional erythroblastopenia characterized by absent or decreased erythroid precursors, in a subset of patients.
RPS19 Human Recombinant produced in E. coli is a single polypeptide chain containing 168 amino acids (1-145) and having a molecular mass of 18.4kDa. RPS19 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
| UniProt Protein Function: | RPS19: Required for pre-rRNA processing and maturation of 40S ribosomal subunits. Defects in RPS19 are the cause of Diamond-Blackfan anemia type 1 (DBA1). DBA1 is a form of Diamond-Blackfan anemia, a congenital non-regenerative hypoplastic anemia that usually presents early in infancy. Diamond-Blackfan anemia is characterized by a moderate to severe macrocytic anemia, erythroblastopenia, and an increased risk of malignancy. 30 to 40% of Diamond-Blackfan anemia patients present with short stature and congenital anomalies, the most frequent being craniofacial (Pierre-Robin syndrome and cleft palate), thumb and urogenital anomalies.
