バックグラウンド: | Part of the host defense system of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It is responsible for microbicidal activity against a wide range of organisms. In the stimulated PMN, MPO catalyzes the production of hypohalous acids, primarily hypochlorous acid in physiologic situations, and other toxic intermediates that greatly enhance PMN microbicidal activity. |
シノニム: | Myeloperoxidase (MPO) (EC 1.11.2.2) [Cleaved into: Myeloperoxidase, 89 kDa myeloperoxidase, 84 kDa myeloperoxidase, Myeloperoxidase light chain, Myeloperoxidase heavy chain], MPO |
IHC image of RACO0305 diluted at 1:100 and staining in paraffin-embedded human spleen tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a Goat anti-rabbit IgG polymer labeled by HRP and visualized using 0.05% DAB. |
UniProt Protein Function: | MPO: Part of the host defense system of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It is responsible for microbicidal activity against a wide range of organisms. In the stimulated PMN, MPO catalyzes the production of hypohalous acids, primarily hypochlorous acid in physiologic situations, and other toxic intermediates that greatly enhance PMN microbicidal activity. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Each monomer consists of a light and a heavy chain. Belongs to the peroxidase family. XPO subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme protein synthesized during myeloid differentiation that constitutes the major component of neutrophil azurophilic granules. Produced as a single chain precursor, myeloperoxidase is subsequently cleaved into a light and heavy chain. The mature myeloperoxidase is a tetramer composed of 2 light chains and 2 heavy chains. This enzyme produces hypohalous acids central to the microbicidal activity of netrophils. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
