バックグラウンド: | Involved in the transfer of neutral lipids, including cholesteryl ester and triglyceride, among lipoprotein particles. Allows the net movement of cholesteryl ester from high density lipoproteins/HDL to triglyceride-rich very low density lipoproteins/VLDL, and the equimolar transport of triglyceride from VLDL to HDL (PubMed:3600759, PubMed:24293641). Regulates the reverse cholesterol transport, by which excess cholesterol is removed from peripheral tissues and returned to the liver for elimination (PubMed:17237796). |
シノニム: | Cholesteryl ester transfer protein, Lipid transfer protein I, CETP |
IHC image of RACO0185 diluted at 1:115 and staining in paraffin-embedded human liver tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system. |
UniProt Protein Function: | CETP: Involved in the transfer of insoluble cholesteryl esters in the reverse transport of cholesterol. Defects in CETP are the cause of hyperalphalipoproteinemia type 1 (HALP1). Affected individuals show high levels of alpha-lipoprotein (high density lipoprotein/HDL). Belongs to the BPI/LBP/Plunc superfamily. BPI/LBP family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is found in plasma, where it is involved in the transfer of cholesteryl ester from high density lipoprotein (HDL) to other lipoproteins. Defects in this gene are a cause of hyperalphalipoproteinemia 1 (HALP1). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013] |
