バックグラウンド: | The protein encoded by this gene is a homolog of the protein transgelin, which is one of the earliest markers of differentiated smooth muscle. The function of this protein has not yet been determined. TAGLN2 expression in all 16 human tissues examined, with high expression in lung, liver, kidney, spleen, thymus, small intestine, colon, prostate, testis, ovary, placenta, and peripheral blood leukocytes, lower expression in skeletal muscle, pancreas, and heart, and lowest expression in brain. |
シノニム: | Transgelin 2 |
UniProt Protein Function: | TAGLN2: a cytoskeletal protein of the calponin family. One of the earliest markers of differentiated smooth muscle. Expressed in the smooth, cardiac, and skeletal muscle cells during early embryogenesis. Becomes restricted to vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells in late fetal development and adulthood. Its expression is abolished by activated Ras. Ras-dependent and Ras-independent mechanisms can cause the down-regulation of transgelin in breast and colon cancer cells lines and tumor samples. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Cytoskeletal; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21-q25 Cellular Component: vesicle Molecular Function:protein binding Biological Process: epithelial cell differentiation |
NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is similar to the protein transgelin, which is one of the earliest markers of differentiated smooth muscle. The specific function of this protein has not yet been determined, although it is thought to be a tumor suppressor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2013] |
